Dimide 1/4 Series Clamp | Single-Handed Use

Unfortunately, we all only have two hands, many of us wish we had more but for now we are stuck with only two. That's why we have made making the Dimide 1/4 Series Clamp single-handed one of our top priorities.

Single-Handed Use

If you work with tools, then there is no doubt you're familiar with locking clamps aka vise grips. While offering reduced clamping force, locking clamps changed the clamp industry by freeing up a hand compared to traditional C-Clamps. The Dimide 1/4 Series Clamp is here to revolutionize the clamping industry again by allowing you to single-handedly deliver increased clamping force with an impact driver.

Impact Hex Groove

Thanks to the impact hex groove, shown below, the Dimide 1/4 Series Clamp can be secured by any 1/4" impact driver just as an impact adapter may be. This allows for single-handed use of the clamp with an impact driver.

DIMIDE 1/4 Series Clamp Ways To Tighten

Torque Reaction Methods

To make the 1/4 Series Clamp easier to use single-handedly, we have been using a variety of methods to react the torque from an impact driver to prevent the clamp from rotating while you try to clamp parts

Bungee Cord

One method is to use a bungee cord between the impact driver and the clamp as shown below.

Bungee Cord Clamp Torque Reaction

Pros

  • Prevents the clamp from rotating
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Need to remove bungee cord to remove the clamp
    • Slightly reduces setup time if you're using multiple clamps

Clamp Reaction Arm

Another method is to add a torque reaction arm to the clamp that bears on the impact driver to prevent it from rotating freely.

Pros

  • Rapid clamp removal from the impact driver
  • Allows for faster single-handed setups

Cons

  • More expensive
  • Need a reaction arm for each clamp

Impact Reaction Arm

Another method is to attach a harness to the impact driver to secure a torque reaction arm to prevent the clamp from rotating.
